Renunciation Of Nigerian Citizenship

This page lists the procedure for renunciation of Nigerian citizenship.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: It is required that the letter from Immigratie Naturalisatie Dienst (IND) is officially translated into English. And both the copy translated into English and the original Dutch letter from IND must be submitted at the Embassy along with other requirements.

Procedure For Renunciation Of Nigerian Citizenship

  1. Submission of formal application to the ministry of interior;
  2. Obtain the prescribed application form or renunciation citizenship (form g) from the ministry or online by visiting https://ecitibiz.interior.gov.ng/ and attach the documents listed below for the processing of the application:
    • Formal application for renunciation;
    • Birth certificate
    • Local government/state identification letter;
    • Two (2) passport photographs;
    • Sworn oath of renunciation by high court or magistrate court;
    • Scanned copy of the applicant’s Nigerian international passport;
    • A letter from the country whose citizenship is being sought comma affirming that the applicant will be given citizenship upon renunciation of Nigerian citizenship; and
    • Payment of €150.00 at the embassy upon approval of request 
    • Invoice/ receipt of payment to the Ministry of Interior under the citizenship renunciation.
    • Approval for Renunciation of Nigerian Citizenship letter issued by Ministry of Interior after payment of necessary fees for the renunciation.     
    • Note:All requirements are mandatory
