The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the Hague wishes to inform the Nigerian Community under the umbrella of the United Nigeria Platform, in the Kingdom of the Netherlands that the Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the passing of His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, immediate past President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The sad event occurred on Sunday 13th July, 2025 in a Clinic in London, United Kingdom, at the age of 82.

The late President Muhammadu Buhari first served as Military Head of State from 1984 – 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 – 2023.

As a mark of respect to the former Leader, the Federal Government of Nigeria has declared 7 Days mourning period, with effect from 13th July, 2025. Similarly, a Condolence Register has been opened at the Embassy’s address at Wagenaarweg 5, 2597 LL, Den Haag. The Register will be opened from 11:00 AM -12:00PM and from 1:00PM – 4:00PM daily from 14th -18th July, 2025.
